2008 MARKET NEWS...

We have had some local musicians express an interest in having informal jam sessions so we are starting

"Music at the Market" on Tuesday evenings from 4 until 7 pm!

Everyone is welcome to attend and sit in to jam with other musicians on the instrument of your choice!  You can show off your talent, learn from others, or just sit and enjoy the music.  We have several vendors selling goods on Tuesdays and some are even offering ready-made dinners.  Just bring a chair and relax or shop (and eat) while you're there!

Do you have nutritional questions pertaining to yourself or your family?  Are you interested in learning more about the nutritional content of foods that you're eating?  Anita Givens, the registered Dietician with the Coomes Center in Abingdon, will be at the Abingdon Farmers Market on July 12th to give short presentations on nutrition and answer any questions you may have.  Examples of such presentations include:

Unfortunately, this event was cancelled due to a family illness, however, we are going to do our best to reschedule Ms. Givens as soon as possible!

We are also currently working on a canning demonstration to help folks who would like to preserve their farmers market goodies for the winter, a pumpkin festival (including a "biggest pumpkin" winner), a "dress-up" day for kids at the end of October, and a food drive to assist those that may need a helping hand!  And, of course, we always appreciate new ideas from our customers!
